Total Petrochemicals & Refining USA reported the shutdown of
compressors and above-normal emissions that began Sunday and would
continue Monday at its refinery in Port Arthur, Texas.
"The NESHAP Compressor C300B shutdown unexpectedly," Total said
in a statement to the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality,
adding that a spare compressor didn't automatically start and
another compressor also "appears to have shutdown on high discharge
temperature."
It said the above-normal emissions began Sunday night and would
last into Monday morning.
The 225,000-barrel-a-day refinery lies 95 miles east of
Houston.
