Eni SpA (ENI.MI) said Friday that it has signed two
exploration-and-production agreements with Lebanon.
The Italian company said the agreements are the result of the
first international competitive offshore licensing round launched
by the Lebanese Petroleum Authority, and further strengthens Eni's
presence in the eastern Mediterranean. The agreements cover blocks
4 and 9, which are located in the deep waters offshore Lebanon.
Eni holds a 40% participation interest in both blocks, Total SA
(FP.FR) is the operator with a 40% stake and Novatek (NVTK.MZ)
holds the remaining 20%.
