Symantec Corp. (NASDAQ: SYMC), the world’s leading cyber
security company, today announced Symantec Endpoint Protection
Mobile (formerly Skycure) has been recognized as a “Leader” in the
“IDC MarketScape: Worldwide Mobile Threat Management Security
Software 2017 Vendor Assessment.”1
Addressing the current state of the mobile threat defense
market, the report evaluated nine different vendors on nine
criteria and placed Symantec in the Leaders Category. There are
also Major Players, Contenders and Participants.
In the report, the IDC MarketScape noted: “Symantec Endpoint
Protection Mobile will gain from Symantec's cloud and threat
intelligence offerings as well as the company's existing customer
base and sales structure. Customers looking for a complete solution
that will allow for integration into their existing systems will
benefit from adding SEP Mobile's MTM product to their mix.”
Managed and unmanaged devices such as tablets and smartphones
are growing in prevalence and flooding the workplace, introducing
new risk and vulnerabilities, and adding to the overall security
challenges businesses face. Last year alone, Symantec’s researchers
discovered more than 600 new vulnerabilities on iOS and Android
operating systems and mobile malware detections doubled to a total
of 18.4 million.2
“We are committed to helping customers protect against advanced
threats as their ‘Cloud Generation’ workforce becomes more mobile,”
said Mike Fey, president and chief operating officer, Symantec.
“Our recent acquisition of Skycure enables Symantec to provide an
integrated mobile cyber defense solution that will protect
customers’ mobile devices and networks across iOS, Android and
Windows. We recognize the importance of offering this protection
within the public app guidelines set forth by Apple and Google to
ensure futureproofing and employee adoption. Symantec is very proud
to be one of the only companies to offer this solution using our
patented approach.”
"We are pleased to be recognized by the IDC MarketScape as
a Leader in the Mobile Threat Management market. It is
very humbling to receive these awards and recognitions but it is
even more fulfilling to be solving the real-world problems that our
customers are facing today,” said Adi Sharabani, senior vice
president, Modern OS Security at Symantec and former CEO of
Skycure. “We look forward to developing new mobile innovations
within Symantec’s Integrated Cyber Defense Platform and bringing
modern operating system security to new and upcoming
markets.”
