ATLANTA, April 18, 2017 (GLOBE
NEWSWIRE) -- Concurrent (NASDAQ:CCUR), a leader in high performance
software-defined storage and content delivery networks
(CDN), announced today that Sioux Falls-based
telecommunications provider Midco - one of the 20 largest
cable television operators in the U.S. - has launched Concurrent's
full suite of CDN products including Storage, Origin and Edge.
Concurrent's CDN Platform is a comprehensive system for ingesting,
hosting, distributing, and streaming video content to any device,
any time, over any network.
Midco serves more than 385,000 subscribers
throughout Kansas, Minnesota, North Dakota, South Dakota and
Wisconsin and has delivered on-demand movies and TV shows for
nearly a decade. As an early innovator in VOD, Midco has mastered
delivery of content to digital televisions and set-top boxes - and
with Concurrent, Midco not only upgrades services for these
traditional devices, it can add IP-based devices such as PCs,
smartphones, and tablets.
The latest version of Concurrent's CDN Solution
offers an integrated architecture built on a stable Linux
foundation, and wide range of features and workloads for live
video, VOD, cloud DVR, and more. Concurrent's new redundancy and
scalability features allow it to be deployed with minimal hardware,
without compromising functionality and high availability, for a
cost of ownership up to 50 percent lower than even less
comprehensive products. Concurrent now boasts RestartTV, a complete
suite of time-shift TV options such as Pause Live TV and Catch Up
TV.
"Concurrent's CDN platform gives us the ability to
deliver our popular ON Demand services more efficiently
and affordably over our existing HFC network, and to expand our
capabilities in the future," said Bill Chatwell, Midco's Video
Systems Manager. "With Concurrent we can provide our customers with
high-end options for movies and TV on demand, to any device they
choose."
"Midco offers its subscribers a state-of-the-art
on-demand service for film and television, which requires a
state-of-the-art infrastructure for the highest possible user
experience and digital quality," said Clay McCreery, Concurrent's
Senior Vice President, Worldwide Sales and Service. "Our CDN
solution sets a new high-water mark in top quality content delivery
for all devices, all formats, all protocols, all set-top and IP
Devices, and it's right at home at Midco."
