Herbalife (NYSE: HLF), a global nutrition company, today is
proud to be hosting the City Year Los Angeles’ 10th Anniversary
Opening Day Ceremony Champions Breakfast.
City Year is an education-focused non-profit that unites young
people (ages 17-25) of all backgrounds for a year of full-time
service in underserved communities to help students succeed in
school and stay on-track to high school graduation. Founded nearly
30 years ago in Boston, the organization has expanded operations to
28 cities across the country as well as programs in foreign
cities.
“Herbalife Nutrition is proud to once again partner with City
Year and support its proven and effective program of providing
students with the resources and tools they need for success,” said
Alan Hoffman, executive vice president, Global Corporate Affairs,
Herbalife. “As a Company that has built its business by providing
communities throughout the country and the world with health
education and economic opportunity, we understand the profound
impact that personal interaction and a community-focused approach
to tackling problems can have.”
Each September, City Year swears in new AmeriCorps members who
provide academic support before, during and after school to at-risk
L.A. youth. Today’s Champions Breakfast will be hosted at Herbalife
Nutrition corporate offices, and follows the opening day ceremony
during which 500 guests will hear from California Senate President
Pro Tem Kevin de León and other local leaders.
“We are grateful to Herbalife Nutrition for its continued
support and for hosting our Champions Breakfast this morning,” said
Erin Ross, managing director of development at City Year Los
Angeles. “This is an exciting day as we welcome our 10th corps of
young idealists committed to helping the students of Los Angeles
reach their full potential. City Year is a public-private
partnership and it is because of investments from companies like
Herbalife Nutrition and others who share our vision that we are
able to impact so many students’ lives.”
