American National offers safety information ahead of Tropical Storm Hermine
September 01 2016 - 5:23PM
As Tropical Storm Hermine moves toward Florida, The National
Weather Service is urging residents in southeastern states to
prepare for severe weather and brace for hurricane conditions as
the storm makes landfall. Heavy rain and gusty winds are
anticipated with flooding likely.
American National urges severe weather safety and offers the
following tips to help prepare yourself and property before a
storm, including:
- Remain aware of weather conditions in your area
- Secure your home and property
- Make sure you and your family have a family disaster plan
- Heed all storm and tornado warnings

In addition, American National has claims teams
on standby in the event policyholders experience severe
weather-related claims. For personalized service, policyholders can
visit their local agent’s office or call American National’s
24-hour claims hotline at 1.800.333.2860. Those with access to a
computer or smartphone can also report claims online through the
“Client Services Online” feature of AmericanNational.com.
If property damage does occur, American National
encourages policyholders to wait to make repairs until an adjuster
can complete a property inspection. If immediate action is
absolutely necessary to prevent further damage, make sure it’s safe
to make repairs and take time to thoroughly document the damage.
All repair-related receipts should be saved so they can be included
in claim reports. For those policyholders who sustained vehicle
damage, appraisers will be available to assist with
inspections.
American National’s website also offers several
informational resources that may be useful to policyholders dealing
with the aftermath of weather events. Information specifically
related to severe storm preparedness and recovery can be found at
www.anpac.com/safety.
