Advanced Defense Technologies, Inc. (PINKSHEETS: ADCF), announced today that marketing plans are in progress to utilize drone and UAV technology for precision agriculture applications. The Company's UAVs, when equipped with a "sense-and-avoid" system that will automatically steer the pilotless craft away from obstacles and crash land in a safe area if necessary, are expected to expedite possible commercial use in this market sector. Precision agricultural applications utilizing drone technology are expected to reduce costs and maximize yields.

Potential applications include:

  • Monitoring moisture levels and carcinogen in crops and vineyards
  • Detection of carcinogen and pathogen levels in soil
  • Identifying and monitoring the spread of crop destroying pests
  • Monitoring of farm equipment
  • Following the progress and quality of work of autonomous combine harvesters

"Drones have been used for military applications for a long time but in the very near future commercial applications in the agriculture industry are definitely possible," stated R.S. Tahim, President and CEO of Advanced Defense Technologies Inc. "Utilizing sense-and-avoid technology payloads on board all drones and UAVs will be a critical step in overcoming public safety concerns. Once autonomous aircraft are used with a high rate of success in rural areas we expect a transition toward precision agriculture and the utilization of drone technology to reduce costs and maximize yields. The UAVs that ADCF will deploy should be a significant improvement in current field surveillance."
