Penny Stocks To Buy
Shares of lidar technology company Ouster had a tough last few months. But this week, OUST stock is beginning to heat up. The company announced last week that it launched a new REV7 sensor platform that doubled the range powered by its lidar chip. Obviously, with a focus on EV and autonomous vehicles, lidar stocks have received some pointed interest as new developments have emerged.Ouster’s newest addition is specific to production-scale fleets. It comes at a time when significant automakers and EV companies are getting more serious about launching commercial fleet product lines. Companies, including Volvo and Tesla, have recently announced trucking lines to add to the EV mix.

Ouster to acquire Sense Photonics to form Ouster Automotive and establish a digital lidar powerhouse
Angus Pacala
CEO and Co-founder
Ouster’s mission is to increase the safety of our world and improve quality of life by bringing affordable, high-performance digital lidar technology to multiple markets. The automotive industry specifically is at the center of the autonomous revolution. Autonomy is a paradigm shift that will bring new levels of life-saving technology to the cars we drive.
Affordable, mass-manufactured lidar sensors are one of the key enabling technologies for this progress. And commercializing lidar that can bring about that paradigm shift is the immense challenge Ouster has undertaken.
The automotive market has some of the most aggressive performance and commercial requirements: long-range and short-range, high-resolution, small form factor, extreme reliability, and high-volume manufacturability. All of these must be delivered with a unit price in the low hundreds of dollars.
This is why today, we’re proud to announce our plan to form Ouster Automotive following the close of our planned acquisition of Sense Photonics. We anticipate that this acquisition will accelerate Ouster’s solid-state digital lidar roadmap, drive our automotive growth, and cement our position as a digital lidar powerhouse.

Ouster produces three main categories of lidar sensors with varying sizes and range: the OS0, OS1, and OS2. These are manufactured in its production facilities in the United States and Thailand. The company has worked with firms in over 15 different industries across 50 countries.[13]
In 2019, Ouster opened new offices in Paris, Shanghai, and Hong Kong in order to scale its business. The same year Ouster sensors were installed in Postmates’ 'Serve' Autonomous Delivery Rovers operating on sidewalks of Los Angeles, Kodiak’s trucks operating in Texas adopted its sensors for testing. For the 2019 DARPA SubT challenge coal mines of Pennsylvania, its lidar sensors were mounted on drones.[14][15][16] Ouster lidar sensors are used to provide vehicles with the ability to sense, classify, and understand its immediate environment.[17][18][19]

Ouster was selected by autonomous trucking startup Ike as Lidar supplier to bring its automated trucking to market.[20] It is also working with Coast Autonomous to produce self-driving passenger shuttles and autonomous utility vehicles.[21] Ouster has also been working with NVIDIA and Volvo Trucks to develop self-driving systems for commercial use.[22]
In 2020 Ouster partnered with Chinese robotics company iDriverplus to provide lidar sensors for autonomous cleaning robots. During the COVID-19 state of emergency, the two companies partnered to outfit a fleet of robots with OS1-64 lidar sensors. The unmanned cleaning and disinfection vehicles were equipped with lidar sensors on the top and front of the robots providing 360° 3D environmental monitoring and obstacle recognition.[23]
