Ampere Computing, the chip company founded by longtime Intel Corp. executive Renée James, has filed confidentially for an initial public offering.

Ampere's investors include Oracle Corp., where Ms. James is a board member. Oracle has made multiple investments, including $300 million in 2021, according to a securities filing.

Ampere has received investments from the SoftBank Group Corp.-owned Arm and Carlyle Group Inc.

Last week, Ampere said in a blog post that Microsoft Corp. launched Azure Virtual Machines based on the Ampere Altra processor.

In February, Ampere and Rigetti Computing Inc. announced a partnership to create hybrid quantum-classical computers "designed to unlock a new generation of machine learning applications over the cloud."
