Deutsche Post AG said Wednesday that its DHL Supply Chain unit
has expanded its agreement with Locus Robotics, increasing the
number of warehouse robots it will use.
DHL Supply Chain plans to implement up to 2,000 assisted picking
robots globally by 2022, the German freight-and-logistics group
said. The robots will mostly be used in e-commerce and consumer
warehouses and will help with picking and inventory replenishment.
It is using more than 500 machines so far.
"Initial investments in assisted picking robots have proven
effective in commercially scaled operations, and this multi-million
dollar agreement will enhance DHL's wider Accelerated
Digitalization Strategy," Deutsche Post said.
