FRANKFURT--German mail and logistics company Deutsche Post AG (DPW.XE) Wednesday said it has appointed Tim Scharwath, 50, as management board member responsible for the group's DHL Global Forwarding and Freight operations.

Mr. Scharwath will join the group within the next 12 months. Until then, Chief Executive Frank Appel will remain responsible for the division, Deutsche Post said.

Mr. Scharwath comes from logistics company Kuehne + Nagel International AG, where he has been the management board member responsible for global airfreight since 2011.

Deutsche Post also said that Amadou Diallo remains CEO Freight, responsible for Road Transport.

The company made the announcements before its annual shareholder meeting, which takes place Wednesday.
