State Street Global Advisors (SSgA), the investment management
business of State Street Corporation (NYSE: STT) today announced
key appointments to its fixed income and equity investment teams
that leverage its knowledgeable and experienced team of investment
professionals.
Kevin D. Anderson Appointed Global Chief Investment Officer
for Fixed Income and Currency
Kevin D. Anderson, Ph.D. previously SSgA’s Global Head of Fixed
Income Beta Solutions, has been named the new global chief
investment officer for Fixed Income and Currency, effective
immediately. Anderson, who is based in London, succeeds Mark
Marinella who has resigned from SSgA to pursue other
opportunities.
Rick Lacaille, SSgA’s global chief investment officer said,
“Over the past three years, the fixed income investment team has
strengthened and refined its investment capabilities, restoring
active fixed income performance where needed and laying the
groundwork for future growth. I am confident that Kevin has the
experience and ability to position SSgA to address the evolving
needs of clients such as the growing appetite for credit strategies
and global exposures.”
Anderson joined SSgA in 2001 and has been responsible for all
fixed income beta solutions worldwide. He has worked extensively in
the area of risk budgeting and prior to SSgA, was responsible for
the development of quantitative strategies at Schroder Investment
Management. He holds a Ph.D. in Theoretical Physics from the
University of Southampton and he graduated with a BSc Honours
degree in Mathematical Physics from the University of
Edinburgh.
Anderson will be supported by an experienced team including Bill
Cunningham and Bill Street, global co-heads of Active Fixed Income.
Cunningham, who is also SSgA’s Global Head of Fixed Income
Research, joined SSgA in 2008. Prior to SSgA, he was the head of
Global Fixed Income Research for State Street Global Markets, the
investment research and trading arm of State Street, where he
helped build the overall fixed income business.
Street, head of Fixed Income Non-US Alpha Strategies, provides
leadership to SSgA teams delivering active strategies in EMEA and
Asia-Pacific. He joined SSgA in 2007 from Unicredit (formerly
Hypovereinsbank HVB), where he was head of Fixed Income and
Proprietary Trading, and has more than 15 years of fixed income and
derivatives trading experience.
Marc Reinganum Assumes Expanded Equity Role in Response to
Greater Demand for Global Mandates
SSgA also announced that Marc Reinganum Ph.D., who joined SSgA
in December 2009 from Oppenheimer Funds as head of International
Active Developed Markets Equities, will expand his responsibilities
to include the US Active Equity team and the Canada Developed
Markets team. In this expanded role, as head of global Active
Developed Market Equities, he will work to ensure that SSgA’s
active quantitative equity approach is applied consistently in all
equity products for developed markets managed globally.
“We are committed to delivering a consistent, global active
investment approach that maximizes performance for our clients,”
said Lacaille. “The benefits from consistency have become even more
important as we see clients increasingly turn to global versus
domestic mandates. Marc has a strong background in quantitative
research that supports his expanded role and SSgA’s work on the
evolution of its quantitative models to a more dynamic
approach.”
