Harris Corporation Wins $29 Million Follow-On Order From MTN Nigeria to Expand Cellular Network REDWOOD SHORES, Calif., July 14 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Harris Corporation (NYSE:HRS), a leading global supplier of wireless equipment and services, has received a US $29 million order from MTN Nigeria to supply, design and implement Harris MegaStar(R) 1:4 radios for MTN's high-capacity backhaul GSM network. The follow-on order augments a $24 million microwave equipment and services contract announced in February 2004. "Harris has earned significant customer confidence from MTN in just over a year," said Demola Eleso, chief technology officer, MTN Nigeria. "Harris' ability to provide in-country support, a full localization team, technological flexibility, and highly competitive pricing were all instrumental in our decision to expand this relationship." Under the follow-on order, Harris will provide and deploy an additional 880 radios. Harris MegaStar 155 STM-1 radios provide MTN with true broadband capability along with powerful propagation characteristics that ensure a reliable and robust network. MegaStar also offers high and very high capacities, and a high degree of scalability, allowing MTN to meet current and future needs and to expand capacity easily and cost-effectively as subscribership grows. MTN obtained a digital mobile license in Nigeria in 2001. The company currently provides service in 35 cities and more than 80 smaller towns, villages and communities, as well as a number of highways across Nigeria. MTN has deployed a nationwide microwave transmission backbone called "Yellow Bahn" that spans over 4,500 kilometers and traverses more than 120 Nigerian towns and villages.
