BMC Software Extends Identity Management Security Suite HOUSTON,
Nov. 20 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- BMC Software, Inc., , a leader in
enterprise management, today announced that it will be introducing
an additional component to its identity management offering that
incorporates technology developed by Business Layers. This new
offering, named CONTROL-SA(R)/eProvision(TM) by Business Layers,
sold by BMC Software through its MarketZone partner products
program, combines Business Layers' eProvision technology with BMC
Software's CONTROL-SA suite of products. When coupled with the
existing CONTROL-SA products, the new offering creates a powerful
identity management solution that improves IT operational
efficiencies for global organizations and increases the ROI of
security implementations. In today's highly complex and diverse
enterprises organizations face numerous challenges when assigning
and managing access to the organization's business-critical
applications. If managed incorrectly, an organization jeopardizes
its security while unnecessarily expending valuable time and
resources. In an effort to help global organizations address these
challenges and provide maximum efficiency and reliability, the
CONTROL-SA suite offers organizations a complete solution that
addresses all aspects of provisioning, including facilitating
business changes such as employee hires, transfers and removals,
while offering key functionality like workflow, delegated
administration, IT automation and complete business-oriented
auditing. Furthermore, this new solution supports BMC Software's
Business Service Management (BSM) initiative by assuring increased
access to business services, applications and related data. "The
combined BMC/Business Layers provisioning solution combines the
best technologies from two recognized industry leaders in security
management," said the SIPS project team at Schering-Plough
Pharmaceuticals. "For large, diverse IT infrastructures, the
provisioning and workflow processes can be very complex and time
consuming. The combined BMC/Business Layers solution will help
alleviate these management challenges and help streamline the
provisioning and identity management process." "Customers are
seeking a comprehensive provisioning solution to effectively manage
their increasingly complex environments. Having both multi-level
workflow and strong application integration capabilities are
essential components of a user provisioning product," says Roberta
Witty, Research Director at Gartner, Inc. With today's
announcement, the enhanced CONTROL-SA suite offers users the
industry's most comprehensive policy-driven provisioning solution.
New capabilities delivered include: -- A dynamic rule-based
workflow engine -- Delegated user administration -- Self-services
user registration -- Direct LDAP management -- Comprehensive
password management capabilities -- Extensive business-oriented
auditing and reporting "In the current environment, customers are
looking for suites from proven and experienced security vendors,"
said Somesh Singh, vice president and general manager, Security
Business Unit, BMC Software. "With this new product offering, BMC
is combining over a decade worth of experience in building and
deploying identity management solutions for complex organizations
with state- of-the-art technology. Customers will find that BMC has
the most complete identity management solution in the marketplace."
"We are very excited to provide BMC with the market's leading
provisioning technology as part of their end-to-end identity
management suite," said Izhar Shay, president & CEO of Business

like Schering-Plough and the German Railway. This new offering
offers even tighter integration into a single vendor solution that
uses best- of-breed technology." Availability and Pricing
