Enabling customers to take full advantage of IBMs recently
released DB2 9 for z/OS offering, BMC Software today announced it
is the first Independent Software Vendor supporting general
availability across a full line of DB2 management products for
performance, administration, and recovery. BMCs timely
availability of these solutions showcases the companys continued
dedication to DB2 and the mainframe, allowing customers to benefit
from DB2 9s new offerings such as universal table spaces,
partition by growth and PureXML without delay. These features
enable organizations to better leverage the benefits of a flexible
and cost-effective database platform for building robust on-demand
business applications for critical operations in global
organizations, including retail, insurance and finance. We depend
on databases as DB2 on z/OS, and we depend on vendors like BMC to
support new versions, said Richard Marschner, Leader DB2 Team
HVBIS (member of the Unicredit Group). We use DB2 on z/OS to
manage our critical mainframe applications like for example ATMs.
With new features for improved query and utility processing, the
DB2 9 system provides partners an advantage in the marketplace on a
global level. As a BMC partner in Poland, Compfort Meridian is
looking forward to the next release of BMC products," says Maarten
Goslings, CEO of Compfort Meridian. "As a partner, we depend on BMC
keeping its software current and continually enhancing its features
so it is good news that BMC is moving forward rapidly to support
and exploit DB2 9. One of the key DB2 9 drivers is PureXML, and our
customers realize that any applications that use this feature will
depend on BMC's aggressive support of it." Providing
industry-leading management solutions allows customers to align IT
with business needs and reap the benefits of business service
management. We continue our commitment to the mainframe and DB2,
providing customers with the best solutions to meet their needs and
drive ROI, said Ralph Crosby, chief technology officer of BMCs
Mainframe Service Management business unit. In a market that
constantly demands faster and better ways of managing information,
customers and partners know they can rely on BMC to provide the
best industry offerings available. About BMC Software BMC Software
