HOUSTON, Sept. 1 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- BMC Software, Inc. (NYSE:BMC), a leading provider of enterprise management solutions, today announced that it will be participating in the AFCOM Data Center World Fall 2005 Conference, October 9-12 in Chicago, with a presentation by David Wagner, director of solutions management for BMC Software's Capacity Management and Provisioning line of products, titled "Legends of the Mainframe Guide the Path to Virtualization and Partitioning of an 'On Demand' World." AFCOM is the premiere association representing the needs of enterprise and Internet data center executives and vendors around the globe. Wagner will be speaking on October 11 at 3 p.m. in the Williford A Room. On Demand or utility computing approaches are being touted as a more flexible and cost-effective approach to supplying the IT resources needed to sustain business service. In line with this trend, recent technology innovations are bringing mainframe-like systems flexibility to the distributed systems world. These technologies, specifically partitioning and virtualization, will be the building blocks for the newer utility based solutions. Currently, these technologies can provide practical benefits through server consolidation, application isolation fault tolerance, and more effective utilization of server resources, than typically found in a distributed systems environment. Wagner's speaking session will outline the role of virtualization and partitioning technology in today's and tomorrow's IT environments. Additionally it will discuss how these technologies can be leveraged to support isolation and improved performance tolerance of mixed workload systems and enhanced utilization of new and existing system resources. The presentation also will outline best practices in capacity planning and management in virtualized environments. Wagner is responsible for driving overall solution strategy, pricing, requirements and positioning of BMC's families of proactive performance analysis, modeling and dynamic provisioning and orchestration solutions across leading enterprise platforms and their associated application environments. He has spoken at numerous conferences including the Computer Measurement Group, the premier conference for resource management and performance evaluation professionals.
