UMB Fund Services, Inc. (UMBFS), a subsidiary of UMB Financial Corporation (NASDAQ: UMBF), made the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel’s “Top 100 Workplaces” company list and ranked No. 1 in the mid-sized employer category. The company also received a special distinction award for overall company direction.

In its inaugural year, the recognition identifies organizations throughout southeastern Wisconsin that rank among the best for their commitment to employees and emphasis on being an employer of choice. Participating companies were nominated by one or more employees and were then issued an extensive survey which assessed company direction, leadership, career opportunities, rewards, recognition, ethics and values.

“We are extremely honored to receive this recognition, which is an amazing testament to the pride and passion our associates have for UMB’s culture and business,” said John Zader, chief executive officer of UMBFS. “We realize our associates are our most important assets, and providing them with an environment where they can thrive professionally and personally is critical. We believe having the best people and the best people practices are truly what distinguish us competitively.”

UMB Financial was also recently recognized as the second-best bank in America by Forbes in an end of the year evaluation of the 100 largest banks and thrifts in America. Other company distinctions include recognition as a top performer in Sandler O'Neill and Partners’'"2009 Bank and Thrift Sm-All Stars" report, a No. 5 ranking in a "stress test" conducted by SNL Financial to determine the best capitalized bank holding companies nationally and a No. 21 ranking in Bank Insurance Market Research Group's "2009 Who's Who in Bank Wealth Management."
