Team 1's managed service enables channel partners to expand their business with minimal investment PITTSBURGH, Aug. 2 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Team 1 Systems, a specialized integration distributor that provides High Availability UNIX(R), Linux(R) and Windows(R) servers to the VAR channel, today announced they are expanding their business model to include managed services. The first managed service offering is SCO HipCheck Service which is a mobile systems administration tool that monitors and manages UNIX and Windows Servers and desktops from Windows Mobile, Blackberry(R) and JAVA-enabled smart phones. Team 1 is a full service provider to channel partners, offering support and maintenance for the solutions they supply to their end users. This new offering allows Team 1 to perform system administration functions for customers which may have geographically dispersed systems. Using the HipCheck service, the VAR can continually monitor the health of Windows and UNIX systems and set alert thresholds for a wide range of parameters. The alerts are user defined, and can be set to notify the system administrator of a condition that could lead to an outage the instant a condition reaches a threshold. An SMS or email message alert is sent to the appropriate system administrator's mobile phone. The administrator uses the mobile phone to immediately respond to the alert, and resolve the related issue immediately, thus preventing downtime from occurring. "Our channel partners are engaged in vertical markets that require high availability and fault tolerance such as physical building security and transportation infrastructure and any unplanned down time can be devastating to the business and the public," said Debbie Dora, president of Team 1 Systems. "By offering HipCheck as a managed service to our channel, we have given them another tool to keep their customers' critical systems running smoothly. By offering it as a managed service, our VARS have a new revenue opportunity with minimal investment. HipCheck gives our channel partners the ability to better support their customers and the ability to respond to the customers' needs sometimes before their customer knows they need it and regardless of where they are. HipCheck sends SMS alerts to the system administrator's smart phone, and the administrator can respond via the phone to fix or workaround situations to prevent a system outage from occurring," added Dora. "Team 1 is a leading provider of highly scalable and reliable system solutions for some of the industry's largest and most demanding enterprises. Their continued success is built on a reputation of commitment and an exceptional focus on customer success," stated SCO chief technical officer, Sandy Gupta. "HipCheck is an incredibly powerful network management tool. The feedback received from partners and customers around the world has been very good and we are delighted to support them in their continued success," added Gupta.
