COLUMBIA, Md., May 3, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- MICROS Systems,
Inc. (NASDAQ: MCRS), a leading provider of information technology
solutions for the hospitality and retail industries, is pleased to
announce that Boardwalk Fresh Burgers and Fries® has selected
MICROS as its restaurant technology partner. Boardwalk Fresh
Burgers and Fries® is currently in a rapid growth stage, with
contracts for 450+ locations worldwide where MICROS will provide
the MICROS Restaurant Enterprise Series (RES) point-of-sale system
and the mymicros.net cloud-based reporting and business
intelligence platform.
Since 1981, the Maryland-based
favorite, Boardwalk Fries®, sister company of Boardwalk Fresh
Burgers and Fries®, has served the local community with
traditional American food offerings, launching its concept with
fresh handcut fries and then adding burgers and other offerings to
the menu to meet consumer demand. By 1987 Boardwalk
Fries® had locations from coast to coast in the United States, primarily in community
shopping malls. However, in 2007 Boardwalk Fresh Burgers
and Fries® was born in an effort to meet the
consumers' demand. By taking its new concept into free
standing units and strip centers, it could expand its menu options
with a focus on fresh products. The brand is now expanding globally
and has partnered with MICROS to support its restaurant technology
needs. With its strong worldwide sales, training, service,
and support network and state-of-the-art solutions, MICROS is able
to address the demands of this expanding restaurant chain.
"At the store level, MICROS RES is extremely user friendly for
our employees, and we are realizing improved order accuracy with
fewer kitchen errors, resulting in an improved customer
experience and better bottom line," stated Fran DiFerdinando, Executive Vice-President of
Boardwalk Fresh Burgers and Fries®. "From a corporate
standpoint, mymicros.net provides our management team
real-time reporting and business intelligence. These
capabilities allow the team to make time sensitive and immediately
actionable decisions, which affect all facets of our
business from a local level to the master franchisee to the
corporate office."
"We have found that the quality of the software, hardware, and
service provided by MICROS surpasses all of our legacy technology,"
declared Fran DiFerdinando.
"We are confident that MICROS will continue to provide us with
superior software solutions and service as we expand our
operations."
"We are very excited to have been selected by Boardwalk Fresh
Burgers and Fries® for the opportunity to provide the highest level
of technology products, support, and service to its corporate and
franchised locations," said Ed
Chapel, Senior Vice President of MICROS North American
Distribution. "With the large amount of interest in this
growing quick-service restaurant chain, we look forward to a long
and prosperous partnership with Boardwalk Fresh Burgers and
Fries®."
About Boardwalk Fresh Burgers and Fries
In the summer of 1980, brothers Dave and Fran DiFerdinando were strolling down
the world famous Boardwalk in Ocean
City, Maryland. They, like many other vacationers, had
vacationed there as children and would come every summer to enjoy
the rides and the legendary fresh-cut fries. They had the
idea to make those famous fries accessible to everyone around the
country, not just those at the beach.
"Why would customers wait in line for just French fries,"
everyone asked? Because they are fresh-cut every morning,
cooked multiple times in a special recipe, made to order, lightly
salted, and served piping hot. The two brothers opened the
first Boardwalk Fries® in White Marsh Mall, White Marsh, Maryland, in 1981 and by 1987
they had franchises from coast to coast. As time passed,
customers began asking for more. They wanted a burger to
go with their fresh-cut Boardwalk Fries. It couldn't
just be any burger; it had to be consistent with their concept of a
fresh product. The only solution was a never frozen,
hand formed burger that was prepared every morning and made to
order. From this original concept, Boardwalk Fresh Burgers
and Fries® was born! For more information, visit
