Integrated Silicon Solution, Inc. (Nasdaq:ISSI), a leader in advanced memory solutions, will be exhibiting Monday, October 11th, and Tuesday the 12th, at the Renesas Electronics Developers Conference 2010 show in Anaheim, CA. ISSI will present its frame buffer solution that cost effectively enables animation in color TFT-LCD applications.

Frame buffer memory plays an important role in graphic processing applications. Color displays require large frame buffers to build and hold the images to be displayed. Oftentimes frame buffers must hold multiple copies of the image in order to display animation smoothly.

Several of Renesas Electronics' H8S and H8SX MCUs interface to either an ISSI 8Mb, 512K x 16, PSRAM (IS66WV51216BLL-55TLI), or an ISSI 16Mb, 1M x 16, SDRAM (IS42S16100E-7TLI). The memories are used as frame buffers for graphic processing where the MCU is driving a TFT-LCD panel.

Applications targeted by Renesas Electronics' RX, H8S and H8SX MCUs, such as thermostats, security systems, white goods, exercise equipment, and instrumentation used in medical, industrial, and building automation, have lifetimes up to 10+ years. In order to service those applications, the frame buffer memory needs to be available for up to 10+ years. Both the IS66WV51216BLL-55TLI PSRAM and the IS42S16100E-7TLI SDRAM are industrial temperature parts. Samples are available and both devices are in high volume production.
