Cypress Semiconductor Corp. (Nasdaq:CY) today announced that its
PSoC® 3 and PSoC 5 programmable system-on-chip platforms have been
named the “Best New Idea” for 2010 by Electronic Engineering &
Product World (EEPW), one of the leading electronics magazines in
China. The honor comes as part of the annual Embedded Systems
Editors’ Choice Awards sponsored by EEPW under the direction of the
China Computer Foundation Embedded System Technical Committee
(Technical Committee on Microcomputers), the China Semiconductor
Industry Association (CSIA) IC Design Branch, and the CSIA Embedded
System and Application Committee.
The Embedded Systems Editors’ Choice Award nominees are
determined based on factors including performance increases, cost
breakthroughs and opening up new applications. Thousands of user
votes along with input from the award sponsors determine the final
winners.
“This is a fantastic award for Cypress to win because PSoC 3 and
PSoC 5 really are new ideas,” said Gahan Richardson, vice-president
of PSoC Products for Cypress. “PSoC 3 and PSoC 5 offer a new
paradigm in embedded design, allowing engineers to create powerful
products with differentiating features very quickly and easily
using our free PSoC Creator™ IDE. We enable designers to merge
digital and analog components seamlessly to save power, board space
and design time. We’re grateful to the editors and readers of EEPW
for this award.”
About PSoC 3 and PSoC 5
Cypress’s PSoC 3 and PSoC 5 architectures include high-precision
programmable analog capability (up to 20-bit resolution for an
Analog to Digital Converter) and expanded programmable digital
resources integrated with powerful, industry-standard MCU cores and
ample memory and communications peripherals. The PSoC 3 devices are
based on a high-performance 8-bit 8051 processor, while the PSoC 5
devices include a powerful 32-bit ARM® Cortex™-M3 processor. The
products provide designers with a seamless, programmable design
platform, enabling easy migration from 8 to 32 bits. The robust
features of these new solutions dramatically expand the
applications and markets that PSoC can address, including
automotive, portable medical, industrial and many more. More
