Airbus said it was awarded a U.K. Ministry of Defence contract to provide support for a military satellite communications system.

The contract is to support the SKYNET communication system, Airbus said.

Airbus will provide post-design services to the ministry and future service providers to help in the transition from SKYNET 5 to SKYNET 6, including SKYNET 6A which Airbus is developing.

The contract starts in March and will last for five years.

Airbus didn't disclose financial details.
