Procera� Networks Inc. (AMEX: PKT), a developer of Evolved Deep Packet Inspection (DPI) solutions providing traffic awareness, control and protection for complex networks, today announced the installation of a 40 Gbps PacketLogic PL10000 system which is believed to be the largest single DPI system deployed in the world. The installation at a large Tier-1 service provider was supported by the recent upgrades to Procera's PacketLogic PL10000 hardware platform, widely considered to have the industry's highest capacity and performance. The Flow Processing (FP) modules have been equipped with additional memory, while a next-generation Systems Management (SM) module with 64-bit capability has been incorporated. These configuration changes increase the performance, like number of flows and subscribers, during worst-case conditions.

"Being able to offer several times the capacity of our competitors has proven to be a stronger competitive advantage than I predicted, as more customers are demanding 10 gigabit or higher capacity in the locations where they deploy DPI today."

The increasing performance under challenging conditions was also recently proven at DreamHack, the world's largest computer festival. More than 10,000 heavy users, generating 22 Gbps of traffic, were managed by two PL10005 chassis offering 10 Gbps full duplex capacity. The PacketLogic performance was confirmed by processor utilization remaining far below the critical threshold even under these demanding conditions.

"In addition to performance, the DreamHack event was also a validation of PacketLogic's asymmetric traffic support. With 50 percent of all traffic being asymmetric, we were still able to stay south of 1 percent overhead traffic during peak usage times," continued Lind�n. "In live installations we've learned the critical requirements for these high-end systems and have been able to modify the PL10000 configuration accordingly since the original launch of this hardware platform in May this year. We're prepared to go higher and I foresee even bigger systems being deployed in the near future."
