Mediaset SpA (MS.MI) said Thursday that it has filed a complaint against shareholder Vivendi SA (VIV.FR) with Italy's market regulator Consob, accusing the French company of acting to depress Mediaset's stock price.

The Italian broadcasting company said the French group has leaked information with the aim of hindering the plan to merge Mediaset and Mediaset Espana Comunicacion SA (TL5.MC) into a Dutch holding company.

"Vivendi's unlawful behavior is damaging Mediaset, Mediaset Espana and their shareholders," it said.

Mediaset said Vivendi should clarify its position in relation to the proposed merger.

Vivendi declined to comment.
