Volkswagen AG (VOW.XE) said Monday it opposed IG Metall's
demands in its first meeting with representatives from the union to
negotiate pay.
"We have received the demands of IG Metall, explained our
opposition to the trade union representatives and offered to
develop a solution together," said Martin Rosik, chief negotiator
and head of human resources of the Volkswagen brand.
A reasonable pay settlement is "more important than ever
before," Mr. Rosik said, citing challenges facing the car maker,
including digitalization and a shift to e-mobility.
Negotiations are expected to continue on Thursday, Jan. 11,
2018.
