NORTHBROOK, Ill., Aug. 17, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- The Allstate Corporation (NYSE: ALL) today announced estimated catastrophe losses for the month of July 2017 of $181 million, pre-tax ($118 million after-tax). Catastrophe losses occurring in July comprised 13 events at an estimated cost of $151 million, pre-tax, plus unfavorable reserve reestimates of prior reported catastrophe losses.  Two severe wind, hail and rain events, primarily impacting the Midwestern part of the country, accounted for over 60% of the catastrophe losses for July.  The increased reserve reestimates in the month of July primarily relate to reestimates of second quarter 2017 events.
