For the ninth consecutive year, Xerox (NYSE: XRX) has been named
to the “100 Best Corporate Citizens List” by Corporate
Responsibility Magazine, one of North America’s leading voices on
corporate responsibility.
Corporate Responsibility (CR) Magazine, which analyzes best
practices and tracks CSR trends, recognized Xerox for its programs
that work to nurture a greener world, create diverse and inclusive
workplaces, and strong, viable communities where its employees and
customers work and live.
CR Magazine ranks companies in seven categories: environment;
climate change; employee relations, human rights; corporate
governance; financial performance; philanthropy and community
support. According to the magazine, companies included on the list
“deliver on their commitments to transparency and accountability in
highly competitive industries.”
Xerox programs for corporate social responsibility outreach
include the following:
- Xerox Green World Alliance: A deposit
program in which an estimated 2.5 million cartridges and toner
containers are recycled annually. This has kept more than 145
million pounds of waste out of landfills over the past 20
years.
- Participation in Electronic Industry
Citizenship Coalition (EEIC), a standards-based approach to
monitoring labor, health and safety. This shapes Xerox’s policy
letter on human rights.
- Xerox Philanthropy: Programs focused on
employee-driven volunteer efforts on specific projects in their
communities. These include an effort to increase the number of
women and minorities following STEM (science, technology,
engineering and math) education and career paths.
The “100 Best Corporate Citizens List” was first published in
1999 in Business Ethics Magazine, and has been managed by CR
Magazine since 2007. To compile the list, every company in the
Russell 1000, the highest ranked stocks in the Russell 3000 Index
of publicly held U.S. companies, is ranked according to 303 data
points. The methodology for generating the list is governed by the
Ratings and Rankings Thought Leadership Council of the Corporate
Responsibility Association (CRA).
