ROCHESTER, NY, Sept. 29, 2016 /PRNewswire/ - Late in July, Vuzix
European partner Ubimax received the first early orders of Vuzix's
M300 Smart Glasses. The M300 are the newest iteration of
Vuzix wearable computing solutions that improved upon the M100 line
of smart glasses of Vuzix. The M300 line includes the new
Intel Atom driven Android 6 platform and other new features and
upgrades, such as a touch pad, Sensory speech recognition engine,
GPS, Bluetooth 4.0 and more.
As a preferred partner in the Vuzix Industrial Partner (VIP)
developer program, Ubimax received and shared the M300 Smart
Glasses with customers currently using the M100 technology,
including shipping giant DHL and automaker Daimler, so users could
become acclimated with the new technology before full-scale
production. After a successful pilot program showed the
operational benefits of the M100 series powered with Ubimax's
X-Pick software, DHL recently announced global expansion of its
vision picking pilot program, to include the M300 series, across
the United States Europe and England.
Further broadening its enterprise footprint, Vuzix has added
VIPs in the U.S. and abroad, giving other leaders and early
adopters in the wearable computing industry access to M300 Smart
Glasses. To date, the M300 has shipped to more than 50 VIPs,
including NS Solutions Corporation, NTT DOCOMO, INC, XOEye
Technologies, APX Labs, Ubimax, Pristine and AMA.
On Wednesday, Vuzix announced taking the next step towards
production rollout of the M300. The company is now shipping
initial DVT (Design Validation Test) units of the M300 Smart
Glasses to select enterprise customers and VIP developers.
This is the version of the glasses going through final
certification on the path to commercial-scale launch, which is
expected early in the fourth quarter.
This last round of evaluations allows Vuzix partners to stress
test the finalized hardware and software, showcase the glasses to
customers and demonstrate proof-of-concept to new client
opportunities. Vuzix is also preparing to commence shipments
directly to customers, including DHL, SAP, General Electric and
Boeing so they can evaluate and prep for migration from existing
technologies to the M300.
"Our VIPs are developing applications in most of the key
enterprise markets for smart glasses," commented Paul J. Travers, President and CEO of Vuzix, in
today's news. "Being the world's first second generation
smart glasses, and having the advanced features set requested by
our large installed base of M100 customers, sets the M300 apart
from the competition," he added.
