Tribune Publishing Co. (NYSE: TPUB) today announced the
appointment of David Dreier to its Board of Directors, effective
immediately.
David Dreier is chairman of the Annenberg-Dreier Commission,
which has focused on the role of technology in enhancing
prosperity, good governance, and cross-cultural links throughout
the Greater Pacific. Prior to leading the Commission, Mr. Dreier
served as a member of the United States Congress representing the
Los Angeles area from 1980 until 2013.
“Congressman Dreier is a proven leader who brings a unique
perspective based on his over three decades of public service as
well as his passion for innovative research and technology,” said
Chairman Michael Ferro. “David’s wealth of relationships, knowledge
and expertise will be extremely valuable in guiding Tribune’s
growth as the Company continues executing against our plan to
create value for all shareholders and stakeholders.”
Congressman Dreier said, “Tribune has an unmatched platform of
iconic brands that are vital to communities across the
country. I am pleased to join the Tribune Board at such a
pivotal time in the Company’s history. While I was a strategic
advisor to shareholder Mount Flag Media Investment, I personally
observed the unique potential of Tribune. A robust fourth estate is
critical to a functioning democracy. I look forward to working
closely with my fellow directors to further the Company’s efforts
to expand the reach and value of Tribune’s world-class journalism
for the benefit of all Tribune shareholders.”
Mr. Dreier will fill the seat vacated by David Dibble, who is
resigning from the Board, effective immediately, in order to devote
more time meeting the increasing demands of his roles outside
Tribune Publishing.
Mr. Ferro added, “On behalf of the entire Board, I would like to
thank David Dibble for his numerous contributions to the
Company.”
Mr. Dibble said, “It has been an honor to serve Tribune and its
shareholders. As I move on to focus on my other commitments, I am
confident the Tribune Board and leadership team are well positioned
to drive value for all shareholders.”
David Dreier Biography
Mr. Dreier was the first Californian and one of the youngest and
longest serving chairmen of the powerful Rules Committee,
structuring the debate for virtually all legislation. He authored
the 1995 Congressional reform package that opened committee
meetings to the public and the press.
A member of the Council on Foreign Relations, he was the
founding chairman of the House Democracy Partnership, a
congressional commission that has worked to strengthen legislative
