Partnership with Able Force, Inc. promotes
gainful employment for persons with disabilities and wounded
warriors
Health Net Federal Services, LLC, a wholly owned subsidiary of
Health Net, Inc., is adding to its efforts to hire and train
military veterans by partnering with Able Force, Inc. to help
provide gainful employment to persons with disabilities and wounded
U.S. military service members.
“As part of Health Net Federal Services’ commitment to improve
the well-being of those who serve our country, we are dedicated to
our veterans and wounded warriors who are transitioning back into
civilian life,” said Thomas Carrato, president, Health Net Federal
Services. “With their intimate knowledge of the military culture,
and their work ethics of leadership, teamwork and dedication to the
mission, hiring those who have served is not only the right thing
to do, it is strategically good for business.”
“Able Force is proud to work with Health Net on this very
important project,” said Richard Salem, chairman and CEO of Able
Force. “We know firsthand that people with disabilities, including
our wounded warriors, represent a talented, skilled and greatly
untapped resource that can provide tremendous benefit to employers
and our nation's economy.”
Able Force is part of the AbilityOne program, the federal
initiative to help those who are blind or have other significant
disabilities find employment. Health Net Federal Services is proud
to work with Able Force and participate in the AbilityOne program,
as federal government agencies have increasingly required such
participation from potential contractors during the government
contracts bid process. Health Net Federal Services’ partnership
with Able Force aligns with its own Veteran and Military Spouse
Employment initiative, a plan to recruit, hire, train and retain
veterans and military spouses in Health Net’s workforce.
In addition, Health Net Federal Services participates in the
following programs:
- The 10,000 Strong veterans hiring
initiative launched this year by Los Angeles Mayor Eric
Garcetti;
- Joining Forces, the White House’s
comprehensive national initiative to mobilize all sectors of
society to ensure veterans, service members and military families
have the opportunities, resources and support they have earned;
and
- Hero Health Hire, a coalition of health
care companies dedicated to offering meaningful employment
opportunities to the nation’s disabled veterans and providing the
support they need to succeed.
About Health Net Federal Services
Health Net Federal Services has a long history of providing
cost-effective, quality managed health care programs for government
agencies, including the Departments of Defense and Veterans
Affairs. As the managed care support contractor for the TRICARE
North Region, Health Net provides health care services to
approximately 2.8 million uniformed services beneficiaries,
active and retired, and their families. In addition, Health Net
provides high quality, cost-effective health care solutions for
veterans, as well as behavioral health services for active duty
service members, veterans and their families.
Additionally, Health Net Federal Services administers the
Department of Veterans Affairs’ Patient-Centered Community Care
(PCCC) program in three of six regions across the United States
(regions 1, 2 and 4), which includes all or portions of 37 states,
the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands.
The PCCC program provides eligible veterans access to health care
through a comprehensive network of community-based, non-VA medical
professionals who meet VA quality standards when VA supplements
care outside its own facilities. Earlier this year, VA extended its
PCCC contract with Health Net to include primary care services for
veterans who are unable to obtain primary care at a VA medical
center in the three PCCC regions in which Health Net operates. The
expanded PCCC program now adds primary care services to Health
Net’s existing specialty care and behavioral health care services.
