SCOTTSDALE, Ariz., May 10, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- YouChange Holdings
Corp ("youchange™") (OTCBB:YCNG), a leading Community for
electronics collection, e-waste tracking, and re-Commerce, today
announced the launch of its Back to School Electronics
Collection Challenge.
"After the success of our Earth
Day Challenge, which included 30 schools representing more
than 13,000 Phoenix area students,
we knew we had to follow up with something bigger and better for
the fall," said Derrick Mains,
Executive Vice President of youchange. "The Back to School
Challenge is just that – more schools, more cash and a wider
area."
Youchange will allow up to 100 schools to participate
throughout the Phoenix,
Tucson and Flagstaff metro areas and will up the ante
with a new Grand Prize Purse of up to $10,000!
Each participating school will hold a two-week electronic
collection fundraiser during the months of September and October
and youchange will pay the schools for the functional
electronic items that are collected. The top three schools that
collect the most items per student will win their share of the
prize purse – for each participating school the jackpot grows by
$100--so if 100 schools participate
$10,000 will be distributed amongst
the winners- 50% for first place, 35% for second place and 15% for
third place.
"We have seen some schools raise between $500 and $5000 after completing our two week
collection drives. Now, add to that a chance to win a piece of the
$10,000 Grand Prize and the incentive
is certainly there for students to collect electronics for cash all
while helping to protect the environment!" said Dan Fogel, VP of Operations for
youchange.
The contest is open to all schools in the Phoenix, Tucson and Flagstaff metro areas. To qualify for the
contest, schools need to be one of the first 100 schools to
register with youchange and choose a specified two week time
period to run their respective collection campaign.
Youchange will assist the schools in planning and launching
their event and will provide collection bins, posters, and
instructional material in addition to offering smaller prizes for
the class that collects the most items. Each school will also
have their own custom page on the youchange website where
they can invite friends and family to mail items directly to
youchange. These items will be tracked by the
company's proprietary software which will credit each item to the
respective school's total.
Schools will be paid for functional items in a number of
categories including computers, cell phones, tablets, e-readers,
game consoles, media players, digital cameras, print cartridges and
even DVDs and Video Games. All non-functional items will be
responsibly recycled.
The top three winning schools will be announced on December 15th, 2012, and each presented with a
check for their respective cash prize in addition to the cash they
raised through their collection event.
