Sizzler Names Franchisee, Vendor Partners of the Year Former NRA Director, Pepsi, Kovel/Fuller take top honors SHERMAN OAKS, Calif., April 18 /PRNewswire/ -- Sizzler, operator of more than 300 mid-scale casual dining restaurants worldwide, awarded Sizzling Platter Inc.'s Robert Kimsey franchisee of the year, while naming Pepsi-Cola of North America its food and beverage vendor of the year. Advertising agency Kovel/Fuller was recognized as the non-food vendor of the year. The honors were handed out at Sizzler's annual franchise convention held recently at the Rio All-Suite Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas. "Over the last year, we have made significant improvements to every aspect of our business, from food and service to marketing and operations," said Ken Cole, president and CEO. "Each of these honorees has played a special role in helping rebuild a great American brand and truly exemplifies what it means to be a trusted business partner." Franchisee Trusted Partner award criteria extends beyond loyalty to the brand and continued support throughout the year. This year's winner, Sizzling Platter Inc., was the original Sizzler franchisee in 1963. The company is based in Salt Lake City and currently owns and operates 21 Sizzler locations in Utah, Idaho, Washington and Nevada with plans to add several more. Before joining Sizzling Platter Inc., Robert Kimsey practiced law in Las Vegas, Nev. He has served as President of the National Sizzler Franchisee Association and as a member of the Sizzler Franchise Advisory Board. He has been a director of the National Restaurant Association and chairman of the Utah Restaurant Association. Pepsi-Cola was honored for its support, ranging from market research and site analysis to quickly installing new equipment during restaurant remodeling. Pepsi and Sizzler recently signed a five-year contract. Kovel/Fuller, Sizzler's advertising agency since 2001, was recognized for its role in assisting the chain to develop its current brand strategy and advertising that has led to significant sales growth.
