New England Bootmaker and Brooklyn Publisher Partner to Capture the
Style and Spirit of the City STRATHAM, N.H., March 16
/PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- The Timberland Company today announced an
original photography exhibit curated by Brooklyn publisher
powerHouse Books, in celebration of the opening of its new 474
Broadway store, in the history-rich SoHo district. The collection
of photographs, which will debut on March 27, reflects the style,
spirit and authenticity shared by Timberland and New York City's
five thriving boroughs. (Photo:

entitled Nature of a City, features images from the powerHouse
archives that capture the energy and vitality of a city that - like
Timberland - is constantly evolving, creating and defying trends.
For the exhibit, powerHouse and Timberland selected photos from New
York-based photographers Janette Beckman, Vivian Cherry, Martha
Cooper, Arlene Gottfried, Lisa Kahane, Maripol, Ricky Powell and
Jamel Shabazz. "Timberland is a brand deeply rooted in the
Northeast, and we want to pay tribute to the communities and
consumers who have always supported the brand," said Theresa
Palermo, Senior Director of U.S. Marketing for Timberland. "The
Nature of a City exhibit helps us tell our brand story, honoring
our East Coast roots, while engaging consumers in a unique retail
experience." "The photography in this exhibition tells the story of
New York's past, present and future," said Sara Rosen, Senior Vice
President of Marketing and Publicity at powerHouse Books.
"powerHouse and Timberland share a unique viewpoint on modern style
and design, and we are pleased to see our artists' photos on
display in this authentic New York space." Black and white and
color photographs will be displayed throughout the store, and an
extended collection of more than two dozen digital images will be
projected on the rear wall to take visitors on a dynamic journey
through New York's five boroughs. The complete exhibition will be
on display from March 27 to April 29, 2009. The new store and
photography exhibit complement Timberland's global consumer access
strategy and robust presence in the New York area, while immersing
city dwellers and visitors alike in the brand's outdoor heritage,
quality craftsmanship, modern design and industry-leading approach
to sustainability. Timberland's 474 Broadway store opened its doors
on February 13, 2009. Build-out for the 2,000 square foot retail
space employed green building practices and materials to reduce the
store's environmental footprint, including the use of materials
salvaged or reclaimed from previous occupants. In addition to
seasonal assortments of Timberland(R) footwear, apparel and
accessories, the store will periodically feature exclusive and
limited collections for both men and women. About Timberland
