Dow Jones News
Among the companies with shares expected to trade actively in
Wednesday's session are Southwest Airlines Co. (LUV), Orbital ATK
Inc. (OA) and Perrigo Co. (PRGO).
Southwest Airlines Co. on Wednesday lowered its forecast for
unit revenue in the current quarter, as the company reported
passenger traffic improved 1.4% in July from the same month a year
earlier. Shares fell 1.23% to $37.00 in premarket trading.
Orbital ATK Inc. said Wednesday that it would miss its filing
deadline for its most recent quarter and restate more than a year
of results due to accounting issues. Shares fell 6.5% to $83.00
premarket.
Drugmaker Perrigo Co. on Wednesday said it missed earnings
expectations for the latest quarter and cut its guidance for the
current year as it continues to battle pricing pressure and
competition in the market. Shares fell 11.66% $84.00 premarket.
Michael Kors Holdings Ltd. (KORS) said results in its latest
quarter weren't as bad as it had predicted, though the handbag
retailer warned that dwindling mall traffic and lower tourism in
some cities would continue to hurt sales. Shares fell 3.85% to
$48.18 premarket.
Wendy's Co. (WEN) on Wednesday reported revenue and profit
topped expectations in the most recent quarter and lifted the low
end of its earnings guidance for the year as it continues to
transition to a franchised model. Still, the top and bottom
declined and Wendy's warned of weakness in same-store sales growth.
Shares fell 4.32% to $9.75 premarket.
Ralph Lauren Corp. (RL) swung to a loss in the latest quarter on
weaker sales and expenses related to the apparel company's
turnaround plan.
ComScore (SCOR) on Wednesday said it needs additional time to
file its June quarterly report as the media measurement and
analytics company completes an internal investigation into its
accounting.
Fossil Group Inc.'s (FOSL) profit tumbled in the second quarter
as the watchmaker's global sales dropped, paced by declines in the
traditional watches it makes for brands including Emporio Armani,
Michael Kors and Skagen.
Myriad Genetics Inc. (MYGN) on Tuesday released dour guidance
for its current quarter and fiscal year as the diagnostic-testing
company posted lackluster results for its fourth quarter.
SolarCity Corp.(SCTY), in the process of being acquired by
fellow Elon Musk company Tesla Motors Inc., reported a wider
quarterly loss Tuesday as operating expenses rose sharply.
SunPower Corp. (SPWR) plans to close a plant in the Philippines,
transferring operations to lower-cost facilities in Mexico, and cut
about 1,200 jobs, or 15% of its workforce, as part of a production
realignment. The maker of solar panels and systems said aggressive
pricing by new market entrants has hurt near-term economic
returns.
Container Store Group Inc. (TCS), in the midst of a turnaround
effort, on Tuesday reported a narrower quarterly loss, helped by
cost-cutting efforts.
Online review site Yelp Inc. (YELP) on Tuesday raised its
revenue projection for the year again as it swung to a quarterly
profit, though the San Francisco company struggled to attract users
in the second quarter.
Mylan NV on Tuesday reported an 8% sales increase in the second
quarter, driven by specialty drug sales and generic treatments.
Walt Disney Co.'s quarterly profit rose 4.6%, helped by recent
box-office hits and the opening of Shanghai Disney in mid-June.
