Marsh & McLennan 1Q Revenue Increases About 9%

Marsh & McLennan Cos. saw first-quarter profit rise by
almost a third and its top line rise more than 9% with the company
reporting double-digit revenue growth for its risk and insurance
services business.
The consulting and risk and insurance service company's earnings
attributable to the company increased 30% for the three-month
period, rising to $983 million. Earnings were $1.91 a share, up
from $1.48 a share a year ago.
Adjusted earnings were $1.99 a share. According to FactSet, Wall
Street was expecting $1.71 a share.
Revenue at Marsh & McLennan was $5.08 billion, an increase
from $4.65 billion the comparable quarter a year ago. Analysts were
expecting $4.79 billion. Total risk and insurance services revenue
rose 11% and consulting revenue rose a little over 6%.
