i.c.stars Joins BMC Software to Establish Leading Technology
Solutions for Chicago Area Community Based Organizations Alliance
Expands the i.c.stars Curriculum and Helps Address Challenges
Facing Community Organizations CHICAGO, July 5 /PRNewswire/ --
i.c.stars, an innovative non-profit internship program in its fifth
year providing training in leadership and technology for inner-city
young adults, today announced its alliance with BMC Software to
develop vital technology solutions for Chicago area community
organizations. BMC Software, a leading provider of enterprise
management solutions, with its Midwest office in Naperville, will
donate technology solutions and consultant support to i.c.stars,
expanding the i.c.stars high-level technology curriculum.
i.c.stars, in turn, will work with community organizations to help
address business problems and more effectively reach stakeholders
and customers through technology applications. "Our newly-revised
curriculum will enhance our interns' real-world technical expertise
as well as drive the community mission of i.c.stars by delivering a
technology solution to a different community partner during each
internship cycle," said Eric Lannert, technical director of
i.c.stars. "This alliance enables our community partners to
experience significantly greater control and service levels within
IT." "As a longtime supporter of i.c.stars, we are pleased to enter
into this relationship and demonstrate how our leading-edge
technology can be successfully implemented within small companies
and community-based organizations," said Bruce Jones, Midwest Area
Director of BMC Software. During i.c.stars most recent cycle,
interns competed on teams to develop and propose a plan to revamp
CTCNet Chicago's web site. CTCNet Chicago is a coalition of 100
community-based organizations that advocate for equitable access to
computers and related technologies. The winning team will work on
the project upon completion of the internship cycle in early May.
The i.c.stars curriculum will implement a similar model for
different community organizations each cycle, creating a win-win
for both community organizations and i.c.stars interns. For more
