Archer Daniels Midland Company (NYSE: ADM) today announced a
donation of $125,000 to Living Lands & Waters, a nonprofit
organization that promotes the health and vitality of the nation’s
inland waterways. The donation is being made through ADM Cares, the
company’s social-investment program.
“ADM is pleased to support Living Lands & Waters and their
efforts to help cleanup and restore our nation’s inland waterways,”
said Jeff Becker, ADM’s vice president, North American Grain
Operations. “A cleaner Mississippi River benefits communities up
and down the river, from Minnesota to Louisiana, and those who
enjoy recreational activities on the water. It’s also vitally
important for ADM because we depend upon the river to transport
grain from America’s heartland to where it is needed around the
world.”
Every year, ADM hosts multiple river cleanups and encourages
employees to volunteer their time to help cleanup the Mississippi
River and other major U.S. waterways in collaboration with Living
Lands & Waters. In 2011, more than 220 ADM employees have
participated in river cleanup events with Living Lands &
Waters.
“ADM has been a valued partner of Living Lands & Waters
since 2004,” said Chad Pregracke, founder of Living Lands &
Waters. “Their financial support combined with the hard work and
enthusiasm of ADM employees allows us to advance our mission to
protect, preserve and restore the environment of our nation’s major
rivers and their watersheds.”
