Zila, Inc. (NASDAQ:ZILA) today announced that it has selected Oraldent Ltd to be the exclusive distributor of Rotadent�, Zila�s innovative powered toothbrush, and Zila�s line of periodontal probes, Perio Probe and Sensor Probe, in the United Kingdom and the Republic of Ireland. Terms of the agreement were not disclosed. �Oraldent Ltd specializes in marketing preventative oral care products and is quite familiar with Rotadent and our probe products," said David Bethune, chairman and chief executive officer of Zila. Its rotary action allows the bristles to remain below the gum line to continually sweep away bacteria and plaque with each revolution of the cleaning tip. In one clinical study the Rotadent was shown to eliminate 92% of plaque after one minute of brushing. Perio Probe and the patented Sensor Probe are used to measure the status and pocket depth during periodontal examinations. Zila probes are made using a thermoplastic technology that makes the probes flexible and harmless to restorative surfaces and implants. The Sensor Probe has a patented sensor gauge that allows for consistent readings between patient visits and among different staff.
