Quality Systems, Inc. (NASDAQ:QSII), known to its clients as
NextGen Healthcare, announced today that its flagship ambulatory
product, NextGen Enterprise EHR, has been validated as a live
implementer of the Carequality Framework, enabling the exchange and
request of medical records with more than 10,000 participating
organizations representing 600,000 providers nation-wide.
Carequality, an initiative of The Sequoia Project, is a
national, vendor-agnostic, network of networks that enables
seamless connectivity across all participants. With more than
10,000 participants, the Carequality network has the ability to
profoundly change the way medical data is exchanged.
“Our continued partnership with Carequality is a big step
towards creating a more interoperable healthcare system which
ultimately results in better patient care and improved outcomes,”
said John Beck, NextGen Healthcare’s Chief Solutions Officer. “We
are thrilled to work with Carequality to ensure that the patients
our clients serve will have secure and efficient access to their
medical records.”
“What’s so exciting about the Carequality framework is its
inclusiveness and flexibility,” said Carequality Vice President
Dave Cassel. “In about a year and a half, we’ve gone from a good
concept, to a critical mass of nationwide exchange among diverse
organizations. The speed with which this has occurred isn’t
something we’re accustomed to from interoperability projects,
historically.”
NextGen Healthcare’s interoperability platform, NextGen® Share,
connects clients to an array of healthcare partners—from clinical
registries, to payers, to the direct messaging network. The NextGen
Share provider directory contains more than 1.2 million unique
addresses—making it the largest such directory in the country. The
NextGen® Share platform is open and vendor-agnostic, enabling
clients to access and exchange patient information at every step of
the clinical workflow, improving practice efficiency and
strengthening financial and patient outcomes.
With a relentless focus and depth of domain knowledge, NextGen
Healthcare is transforming the way ambulatory practices meet
success in today’s healthcare system.
About Carequality
Carequality is a public-private collaborative that facilitates
agreement among diverse stakeholders to develop and maintain a
common, national-level interoperability framework enabling exchange
between and among data sharing networks. Carequality brings
together a diverse group of representatives from the private sector
and government to come to collective agreement on how to enable
data to flow seamlessly between and among networks and providers,
much like the telecommunications industry did for linking cell
phone networks.
