ENCANA TO BUY ATHLON ENERGY
Encana said it has agreed to acquire Texas-based Athlon Energy
for $5.93 billion, giving the Canadian company a large land
position in the state's oil-rich Midland Basin. Athlon shares rose
24% premarket.
TIBCO SOFTWARE TO BE TAKEN PRIVATE
Tibco Software, which had been on the hunt for potential
suitors, said it has agreed to be taken private by Vista Equity
Partners for about $3.98 billion. Tibco shares rose 20%
premarket.
SOFTBANK IN TALKS WITH DREAMWORKS ANIMATION
SoftBank is in talks to buy or otherwise link up with DreamWorks
Animation, people familiar with the negotiations said, a deal that
could help the Japanese company and the Hollywood studio as they

CHINA AND MICROSOFT AGREE ON PROBE
The head of the Chinese regulator investigating Microsoft for

Lloyds Banking Group said it has dismissed eight employees in

Lenovo Group said Monday that it has gained all the necessary

RWE'S SALE OF DEA UNIT HITS SNAG IN U.K.
The sale of German utility RWE's oil and gas unit, Dea, to
Russian Mikhail Fridman has run into problems with the United
