Article: Coinbase Celebrates Regulatory Win as SEC Closes Review of Financial Filings

SEC has completed its review of Coinbase’s financial disclosures, confirming no amendments or restatements are needed.
Coinbase’s CLO announced the conclusion of the SEC review, affirming confidence in its financial practices.

Paul Grewal, Coinbase’s Chief Legal Officer, shared the news via a post on X (formerly Twitter) on April 15.

“Today I’m happy to share that we’ve fully resolved – without restatements or amendments – a number of comments related to our disclosures that SEC sent us a little over two years after we were allowed to go public,” he posted.

We strategically added to certain financial names like Sofi Technologies (SOFI) and Coinbase Global, Inc. (NASDAQ:COIN) during the year. Both companies rebounded strongly in the fourth quarter. We believe Coinbase is building the platform for the crypto ecosystem. Certain recent advances (wallet, base improvements, USD Coin) could cause an adoption tipping point. We like that Coinbase continues to widen its moat by persistently investing in innovation.”

Overall, COIN ranks 4th on our list of stocks with potential to explode in 2025.

"We think management guided conservatively for the first quarter," JP Morgan analyst Ken Worthington said in a client note.

"President Trump is moving fast to fulfill his promise of making US the crypto capital of the planet. And the most pro-crypto Congress we've ever seen is now leading the charge on stablecoin and market structure legislation. Given the US's leadership here, the rest of the world is taking notice and will be under pressure to embrace crypto adoption," Coinbase co-founder and CEO Brian Armstrong said on the call.

"Given the valuation and potential near-term volatility until we get greater regulatory certainty, our rating is unchanged at Neutral; however, our December 2025 price target jumps to $344 (from $264 prior) driven by our fiscal year EPS number nearly doubling on the higher base the fourth quarter set. Interesting to us is that the volume surge seen post election have largely remained intact, suggesting that this level of velocity, activity and revenue generation levels could be sustainable."
