IUVA Conference on Sustainable Ultraviolet Solutions for Disinfection of Public Water & Wastewater
March 15 2012 - 12:00PM
Marketwired
The Environmental Protection Agency (E.P.A.) and other institutions
worldwide continue to test and model ultraviolet (UV) technology to
develop sustainable solutions for disinfecting public water and
wastewater. UV technology utilizes less chemicals and energy than
traditional methods, and is effectively deployed on a smaller
scale. The International Ultraviolet Association is holding a two
day conference in Washington D.C. from
August
12-14, "Moving Forward: Sustainable UV Solutions to Meet Evolving
Regulatory Challenges."
Engineers developing and implementing UV technology, water and
wastewater management professionals, scientists and academics will
present. Abstracts are accepted through March 31, 2012. View
guidelines at http://iuva.org/washington-dc-august-13-14-2012. Some
conference presentations will be accepted for publication in the
IUVA News, a quarterly publication available to members. To apply
for membership online, visit http://iuva.org/join_iuva.
Industry leaders, government officials responsible for public
health, wastewater and resource management professionals, students,
and others interested in learning more about UV technology and its
environmental applications are invited to attend and/or sponsor
this event. Fill out an attendee registration form or visit the
conference page for sponsorship and exhibitor applications. Early
registration ends May 30, 2012. Student and IUVA member discounts
are available.
The IUVA has two notable events upcoming in Europe this spring.
The IUVA EMEA Hub office will be showcasing UV technology at the
AccaDueO exhibition in Ferrara, Italy, on May 23, 2012. Visit
http://www.accadueo.com/en/accadueo/ to find out more about this
international exhibition of technologies for treatment and
distribution of drinking water and wastewater treatment. A One-Day
Symposium with UNESCO IHE is being held in Delft, The Netherlands
on June 7, 2012 and will cover the topic of UV Disinfection for
Emerging and Developing Countries.
The IUVA has recently appointed a new Director of the Asian Hub,
Professor Wenjun Liu, the Vice Chair of the School of Environment,
Tsinghua University, China, Chair of the National Technical
Committee of Ultraviolet Disinfection Standardization of China and
Secretary General of the China Water Industry Society.
IUVA's mission is to advance the science, engineering and
applications of ultraviolet technologies to enhance the quality of
human life and to protect the environment. Founded in 1999, it is a
501(c)3 educational association of more than 500 members in 35
countries. IUVA is recognized as the leading knowledge-base and
voice for UV technologies through its varied conferences and
programs. Visit www.iuva.org.
