Shares of telecom companies jumped Tuesday after The Wall Street Journal reported that Sprint Corp. (S) and T-Mobile US Inc. (TMUS) have rekindled merger talks. Shares of Sprint are up 17% as T-Mobile rose 6.5% in afternoon trading. Meanwhile, Verizon Communications Inc. (VZ) shares rose 3.3% and AT&T Inc. (T) shares rose 2.4%.
