Rambus Inc. (RMBS) signed a five-year patent license agreement with MediaTek Inc. (2454.TW), a move that follows the U.S. International Trade Comission's rejection of Rambus's patent-infringement claims against several chip makers, including MediaTek.

The agreement covers the use of a broad range of integrated circuit products offered by MediaTek, and both companies have also settled all outstanding claims.

Further terms of the agreement are confidential.

Rambus disclosed late Friday that ITC Administrative Law Judge Theodore R. Essex in his initial determination said technology offered by LSI Corp. (LSI), MediaTek, STMicroelectronics NV (STM, STM, FR, STM.MI) and other semiconductor companies didn't violate patents held by Rambus, potentially depriving the technology company of new revenue. Rambus had filed the patent complaints in 2010.

The company said a previous decision by Essex found Nvidia Corp. (NVDA) infringed on three of its memory-controller patents, which led to a five-year licensing deal reached last month. Terms of that agreement also weren't disclosed.

Shares were recently trading down 5.6% at $6.43. The stock was off 68% over the past year.
