Calpine Corp. (CPN) is close to an agreement to buy Pepco
Holdings Inc. (POM) unit Conectiv Energy for more than $1.5
billion, Bloomberg News reports Tuesday, citing a person with
knowledge of the matter.
An agreement may be completed within days, the source said,
while also cautioning that negotiations could fall apart.

with Pepco. A spokesman for the Washington, D.C., utility operator
declined to comment.
