BMC Software (NYSE:BMC) today introduced a new version of BMC
CONTROL-M with Workload Lifecycle Management, simplifying
enterprise job scheduling and improving service to the end-user,
while reducing costs. The release further sharpens BMCs edge over
competitors and strengthens its leadership in IT Workload
Automation and Business Service Management (BSM). With the new
version of BMC CONTROL-M, customers can manage batch processes with
a higher level of control and flexibility. This ability is becoming
increasingly important as industry surveys indicate that more than
50 percent of critical business operations are performed in batch.
Todays batch environment is more complex than ever as jobs are
increasingly integrated with business services and online
processing. Recognizing the need to manage change and minimize
errors, the new BMC CONTROL-M release addresses the complexities of
the growing batch environment with Workload Lifecycle Management,
which provides end-to-end change and version control across
multiple environments and platforms. With version control,
personnel can track, report, compare and reinstate earlier versions
of jobs as needed, while they determine what needs to be corrected
in the new job, saving customers time and allowing them to deliver
uninterrupted business services. BMC CONTROL-M is a solution
organizations have used and trusted for decades, said Andi Mann,
research director at Enterprise Management Associates (EMA).The
new BMC CONTROL-M release offers an added advantage
overcompetitors with the introduction of the job version control
feature because it works across both mainframe and distributed
environments and provides efficient and accurate tools to track
business processes. As the volume and complexity of batch jobs
continue to increase, IT directors are faced with concerns about
delays, added labor expenses and decreased service levels. Cox
Enterprises is one such customer who will benefit from the new
capabilities provided by this solution. As one of the nations
leading media companies and providers of automotive services with
revenues of $15 billion, we pride ourselves in delivering the best
service possible to our customers both internally and externally,
said Doug Greene, manager, Production Operations, Cox Enterprises.
We use BMC CONTROL-M to manage the IT needs for human resources
and payroll activities for our companys more than 80,000
employees. We have been able to greatly improve operational
efficiency across the organization and meet on-time delivery of our
business services. Workload Lifecycle Management also addresses
compliance and auditing challenges by identifying changes, allowing
personnel to recover from errors and create reports for auditors.
Customer feedback indicates that this enhanced solution can save
approximately 30 to 40 percent of IT personnel time by automating
change management in the batch environment. BMC CONTROL-Ms new
virtualization capabilities reduce dependencies on hardware
configurations by allowing for virtual workloads that are highly
portable and resilient to changes. In collaboration with its
existing agentless scheduling capabilities, BMC CONTROL-M extends
virtualization management to further reduce costs and deployment
time. Providing new features that set, model, monitor and report IT
workload SLAs, BMC CONTROL-Ms new predictive functionalities allow
IT organizations to create what if scenarios and guarantee that
workloads will meet SLAs even during periodic or seasonal
variations in transaction volumes. BMC CONTROL-M also allows for
proactive notification to highlight and prevent potential problems
or delays. Whether it is helping customers deliver ice cream to a
store, facilitate a financial transaction, sell a book or deliver a
much-needed weather report, BMC CONTROL-M helps meet the business
goals of organizations around the world. The Swedish Meteorological
and Hydrological Institute (SMHI) uses BMC CONTROL-M to compile
weather forecasts throughout Sweden and surrounding areas using
their meteorological and oceanographic expertise. Our ability to
deliver business services in a timely and accurate manner can mean
life and death in some cases, said Maria Karlsson, systems
manager, SMHI.With vast quantities of data being gathered around
the clock from land-based weather stations, balloons, ships, buoys,
aircraft, weather radar, satellites and lightning systems, we need
a reliable solution that allows us to batch all of our information
and deliver accurate weather reports on time. The information we
provide allows us to care for the environment, protect property and
human life and minimize costs, and the BMC CONTROL-M solution is
the valued and proven partner that we trust to deliver our truly
critical business services. Bill Miller, senior vice president and
general manager of BMCs Mainframe Service Management business
unit, summarizes the importance of this solution. With more than
2,000 organizations depending on BMC CONTROL-M, it becomes critical
to provide much-needed workload automation capabilities to ensure
our customers success. With Workload Lifecycle Management now
offered in BMC CONTROL-M we continue to extend our leadership
position in the market, reduce labor intensive tasks, improve
productivity and ultimately allow organizations to efficiently and
effectively deliver on their business services. For more
