Citizens can now receive personalized vehicle
registration renewal reminders on their phones
Renewing vehicle registrations just got easier for West Virginia
citizens. Gov2Go, a technology platform that makes it easier to
interact with all levels of government, now features a “Skip the
Trip” to the DMV option by allowing citizens to track and complete
vehicle registration renewals using their cell phones.
Gov2Go makes it easy for customers to get started by providing
multiple options. Citizens can visit www.getgov2go.com to access
the website or to download the mobile app. Alternatively, citizens
can also renew their vehicle registration via the DMV’s
Self-Service Portal at dmv.wv.gov and check the box on the
confirmation screen confirming enrollment in Gov2Go. An email will
be sent with a link to complete the Gov2Go enrollment and the
renewed vehicle will automatically be added to the citizen’s
profile.
After completing their Gov2Go enrollment, citizens can:
- Easily save multiple vehicles to their profile – just enter the
title and plate number and the reminder is instantly added to the
personalized timeline.
- Avoid missing renewal deadlines because Gov2Go will remind them
that their registration is due in plenty of time—two months before
their renewal month.
- Expand their options to economically renew vehicle
registrations.
- Eliminate the need to drive and wait in line to perform
renewals – the card and decal are mailed.
- Subscribe for other reminder and alert services such as county
and state tax deadlines, state elections and voter information, and
business filings.
“DMV strives to provide the best customer service possible by
making many necessary transactions, such as vehicle registration
renewals, available from the comfort and convenience of home, or at
a local kiosk,” said DMV Commissioner Adam Holley. “Gov2Go’s new
cell phone reminder system will encourage customers to Skip the
Trip, which reduces wait times in offices and increases convenience
for citizens.”
A unique feature of Gov2Go is that it isn't just a
single-purpose application.
“One of the biggest barriers to finding government resources is
that citizens have to first know which entity and agency are
responsible for providing it,” said West Virginia Interactive (WVI)
President and General Manager, Ian McQuinn. “Gov2Go removes that
barrier by bringing government interactions into one platform.”
Available in all 50 states, the Gov2Go platform is designed to
expand and adapt with future technologies.
