Cintas today announced that Tiffany Bradley, 31, from Knoxville, Tenn., is the official winner of its inaugural Good Riddance Day Contest. As the grand prize winner, she will receive a five-night trip to New York City for Good Riddance Day on Dec. 28, to securely shred the medical bills that she finally paid off from a life-threatening, emergency surgery. She and her mother, Dorothy Bradley, will stay to ring in the New Year in Times Square.

Tiffany entered the contest for a chance to say “good riddance” once and for all to thousands of dollars worth of medical bills. After experiencing excruciating pain in May of 2009, Tiffany found out that a perforated ulcer had grown to the size of a half dollar and severely damaged her stomach. All but one ounce of her stomach had to be removed. After being on life support and not expected to live, Tiffany has fully recovered. In addition, through successful treatments, she is back to a regular routine and healthy diet. Furthermore, on top of her ailments, Tiffany was also laid off from her job but still managed to pay off her debt.

“Shredding my medical bills on Good Riddance Day will be symbolic of finally being healthy and free from the burden of this debt,” said Tiffany Bradley. “I’ve decided to bring my mom as my guest since both of us have always wanted to visit New York City, especially around the New Year’s Eve festivities. We’re excited to say goodbye to our worries from 2010 and ring in the New Year with a fresh slate.”

Since September, hundreds of people across the nation entered the Cintas contest for the chance to win a trip to New York City to watch their funny, heartfelt or forgettable memories of 2010 get shredded into pieces on Good Riddance Day. After narrowing down the submissions to 10 finalists, Cintas opened up voting to the public to determine the winner. Tiffany’s entry for a chance to shred her medicals bills received more than 1,230 votes.

As the grand prize winner, Tiffany will receive:

  • Two roundtrip airfare tickets
  • Five-night stay at Wyndham Garden Hotel – Times Square South
  • Two VIP passes to an exclusive pre-viewing of the Waterford Crystal Times Square New Year's Eve Ball on Dec. 30
  • Two “Let There Be Love" Waterford Crystal toasting flutes
  • Designation as the official "First to Shred" at Good Riddance Day 2010
  • Dave & Buster's Gift Card and Power Cards
  • Ticket Package to Madame Tussauds
  • Ticket Package to experience THE RIDE
  • $50 gift card to Bubba Gump Shrimp Co.

For this annual New Year’s tradition, Cintas is providing one of its secure, mobile shredding trucks in Times Square for the public to shred all their bad memories from 2010. Participants can bring anything from a picture of an old flame to a pink slip or a paid off car loan.

Cintas teamed up with the co-organizers of New Year’s Eve in Times Square, the Times Square Alliance and Countdown Entertainment, to invite the public to say goodbye, once and for all, to the bad memories of 2010. The event will take place on Dec. 28, in Broadway Plaza between 46th and 47th Streets from 12 p.m. to 1 p.m. The event is open to the public to discard any unpleasant, embarrassing and downright depressing memories from 2010.
