For the second consecutive year, Colorado Technical University
is honored to be recognized by G.I. Jobs Magazine as a Top Military
Friendly School. The magazine publishes an annual guide in
September that recognizes the top 15 percent of colleges,
universities and trade schools which are doing the most to support
military students.
“CTU values the opportunity to provide military men and women
with a quality education that will help them advance in the
civilian workforce or in the military,” said Jim Hendrickson, vice
president of military education for CTU. “I’m proud of this
distinction which is a testament to the hard work of CTU and our
department of military education which has more than 150 dedicated
employees.”
The guide was determined by surveying schools on the services
and support available to military students such as availability of
veteran advisors, transfer credit policy for military training,
school grants and scholarships.
About one-third of the CTU student population consists of active
military, reservists, National Guard, veterans and their spouses.
To best serve this population, the CTU Department of Military
Education has a team of specially trained advisors who are
well-versed in areas that affect military students such as
voluntary education procedures, education benefits, military
training transfer credit and CTU military friendly policies
regarding military deployment while in school.
In addition to being a Post 9/11 G.I. Bill and Yellow Ribbon
Program participant, CTU annually awards 25 Wounded Warrior
Scholarships and 25 Wounded Warrior Spouse Scholarships to
deserving recipients. The scholarship program was created in 2007
to offer educational assistance to wounded service men and women as
they recover from their injuries and for their spouses as they
prepare for new career opportunities. To date, the CTU Wounded
Warrior Scholarship fund has awarded more than 100 scholarships
worth nearly $2 million.
CTU gives military students the flexibility and accessibility
necessary to be successful whether they are deployed or at home
through its availability of online classes and support services.
