Kitty Hawk, Inc. (AMEX:KHK) today announced the appointment of Robert (Robbie) Barron as vice president and chief operating officer for its airline subsidiary, Kitty Hawk Aircargo, Inc. Since joining Kitty Hawk Aircargo in May 2004, Barron has served as the company's vice president of maintenance and engineering. During his tenure with the company, Barron has been responsible for all maintenance and engineering operations and refinement of the Kitty Hawk Aircargo long-term fleet plan. He also served as a senior member of Kitty Hawk's B737-300SF aircraft integration team. Prior to joining Kitty Hawk, Barron served as chief inspector for USAIR, director of quality assurance and heavy maintenance for AirTran Airways as well as managing director for heavy maintenance provider, TIMCO, in both Lake City, Fla., and Macon, Ga. Barron's 20-plus years in commercial and military aviation has also included management, quality assurance and maintenance responsibilities with Delta Airlines and the United States Army. Barron is licensed by the Federal Aviation Administration as an airframe and power plant technician and holds commercial, multi-engine and instructor pilot ratings.
